"Real Italian owners create masterpieces in la cucina" at this "quaint" "neighborhood place" in Del Mar, where a "diverse menu" of "down-home" Milanese meals comes in "huge portions" and "doesn't burn your wallet"
Ponte Vecchio bridges quality, value, ambiance By Wolfgang D. Verkaaik
Dining Around/San Diego Union Tribune, November 12, 2009
Daniel Nobili is a man of many passions, cooking traveling and flying. Just to name a few. He grew up in Milan, Northern Italy, and it was there that he entered culinary school, a decision that helped shape the course of his life.
After graduating he embarked on a traveling journey, working at hotels and restaurants all over Europe to help pay his way. He ended up coming to America when he started working on U.S.-based cruise ships. He decided to move to the U.S., married Gabriella and decided to settle in the San Diego area, where he worked in several restaurants in the Gaslamp.
Four years ago, he bought the charming little Trattoria Ponte Vecchio on Carmel Valley road, in Del Mar; he did some remodeling and has evolved the restaurant into quite a success story.

Trattoria Ponte Vecchio brings northern Italian cuisine to Carmel Valley/Del Mar By Matt Liebowitz
Del Mar Village Voice/Carmel Valley News, February 12, 2009
For more than three years, Trattoria Ponte Vecchio has brought authentic northern Italian cuisine to Carmel Valley/Del Mar thanks to its owner and head chef Daniel Nobili.
At Trattoria Ponte Vecchio, the menu reflects Nobili's birthplace with dishes such as Ravioli di Zucca al Burro e Salvia, (ravioli with butter and sage sauce,) Pollo Alla Milanese (breast of chicken topped with arugula and fresh chopped tomatoes), Penne Alla Bava (penne pasta in fontina cheese, ham, and fresh asparagus sauce), Polenta Al Gorgonzola, and Scalloppine Della Mamma (Pork loin scaloppini finished with country Dijon mustard and goat cheese).

DINING OUT with Joanne Cachapero
Rancho Sante Fe News, January 13, 2006
A painting of the famous bridge hangs in the dining room of Trattoria Ponte Vecchio, alongside artwork by local artists. Formerly Trattoria della Mare Barone, Nobili took over last November. He completely remodeled the small space in warm reds, golds and dark woods. With only a dozen tables inside and nine more on the patio, the feeling is cozy. It is a real hideaway destination for a glass of Italian red, an outdoor lunch or a romantic dinner.
